Woman Faces Charges in Connection with Prescription Pill Fraud

On Wednesday, investigators arrested Doris Cockman Tyner, 63, of 909 J. Dowdy Road, and charged her with five counts of felony trafficking in Opiates, and three counts of felony obtaining controlled substance by misrepresentation to a healthcare provider. Tyner received a $5,000 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County jail.

The arrests stemmed from an investigation into a reported prescription pill fraud. The investigation was conducted by officers from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and consisted of an individual obtaining Oxycodone and Opana prescription pills by misrepresentation to a healthcare provider.

Oxycodone and Opana prescription pills are Schedule II controlled substances.
