Moore County Democrats will hold their first meeting of 2013 on Tuesday, Jan. 22, in room 110 in Meyer Hall at Sandhills Community College.

Usually held on Mondays, this meeting was moved to avoid conflicts with Martin Luther King Day and presidential inauguration celebrations. The 7 p.m. meeting will focus on planning for the annual spring precinct organizational meetings, which will be held between March 3 and March 16. The dates each precinct sets will be announced later.

In addition to electing a chairman, vice chairman and secretary, each precinct will elect delegates to the county convention to be held in April. Resolutions to be considered at the county convention originate at these precinct meetings, giving a voice for local Democrats at the county and state level.

The Tuesday evening session will be devoted to helping precinct organizers plan and run effective, productive meetings. All interested Democrats are welcome and encouraged to attend.
