The showdown with the Storm went to the Sandhills CC Flyers Wednesday at the Bradshaw Activities Center on O’Neal’s campus.

Playing in front of a large and vocal crowd, the Flyers dusted their Region X rival Davidson County CC 118-97. T.J. Jones had 27 points to lead four Flyers that recorded double figures. Montre’l Cooke had 20, Raheem Washington had 16 and Kermeriaz Harrington 14 in the Flyers’ win in a game that featured two of the dominate teams in Region X.

The Flyers blasted their way to a 63-52 halftime lead in the fast-paced game. Sandhills held off several Storm rallies in the second half before pulling away at the end.

Sandhills, ranked seventh in the latest national NJCAA Division III, is now 16-3 overall and 2-0 in Region X. Davidson fell to 13-5 overall and 0-3 in the region.
