Two Charged After Reported Altercation

Moore County Sheriff's have arrested two in connection with a assaulted reported at a home in West End, according to Sheriff Lane Carter.
On Jan. 13, deputies arrested Damon Saqawn Harris, 21, of 168 Cloverwood Lane, and James Edward Gibson, 25, of Ridgewood Drive, Southern Pines.
Harris was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon and felony cruelty to animals. Harris received a $50,000 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County Detention Center. His first court appearance is scheduled for January 24, 2013 in Moore County District Court in Carthage.
Gibson was charged with accessory after the fact and received a $5,000.00 secured bond and was also placed in the Moore County Detention Center. His first court appearances is scheduled for January 24, 2013 in the Moore County District Court in Carthage N.C.
The arrests stemmed from the investigation into a call made on Jan. 13 to the sheriff's office, that shots had been fired during a disturbance at a home on Cloverwood Lane.
Deputies responded to the location and found the victim of an assault, Kelvin Harris, and several witnesses.
Kelvin Harris reported that his brother Damon Harris had attempted to assault him with a golf club when his pittbull dog came between them. The dog was struck with the golf club and shot by victim’s brother during the altercation. The dog was dead when deputies arrived. The suspect received medical treatment at First Health Emergency room for dog bites sustained during the altercation.
