K2 Solutions Inc. has announced the addition of John V. Christian to its executive staff.

Christian is retired from 30 years of service in the U.S. Army, where he spent more than half of his career within special operations forces, living in and deploying to more than 30 countries. An expert in counter-terrorism, Christian has been an adviser to U.S. and foreign heads of state, ambassadors and agency directors, having worked with and for the Department of State, the Department of Justice and other intelligence agencies.

Bringing a wealth of experience in both special operations and multi-discipline intelligence collection, Christian joins K2's executive team as vice president of the Special Operations business unit, a news release said.

"In moving into the civilian workplace after 30 years of military service, my criteria was very selective, but ultimately the people at K2 made all the difference" Christian said. "Their reputation made it an easy decision to join forces, and I look forward to continuing my service to this country through K2. Christian's position within K2 will enable him to lead the Special Operations business unit as K2 continues to expand efforts in tactical training, research and development, counter-improvised explosive device (IED) support for deployed troops, intelligence surveillance and analysis, and database management, the release said.

Founded in 2003, K2 is a defense contractor with facilities and offices in Southern Pines, Derby and Jacksonville in North Carolina; Albany, Ga.; Twentynine Palms, Calif.; and Virginia. K2 provides a variety of services to the Department of Defense, commercial and private industry.

K2 is a member of a number of national organizations including the National Defense Industry Association, the Association of the United States Army, and the Special Operations Forces Association, and contributes annually to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, the Unit Scholarship Fund and local charities.
