Moore County Pair Face Drug Charges

Two Moore County residents have been arrested on charges related to distributing controlled prescription pills, according to Moore County Sheriff Lane Carter.

James David Warlick, 50, of 375 Claude White Road, Cameron, and Laurie Ann Marks, 33, of 308 Aiken Road, Lakeview, were arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Warlick is charged with three counts of felony trafficking in Opiates, felony sell a Schedule II controlled substance, felony deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, and felony maintaining a vehicle to keep controlled substance.

Warlick received a $25,000 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County jail.

Marks is charged with three counts of felony trafficking in Opiates, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony conspiracy to sell a Schedule II controlled substance, felony conspiracy to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, and felony maintaining a vehicle to keep controlled substance.

Marks received a $25,000.00 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County Detention Center.

The arrests stemmed from an undercover drug investigation conducted by officers of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics unit and the Southern Pines Police department that occurred on Connecticut Avenue in Southern Pines, Carter said.

During the investigation officers purchased and seized approximately 55 dosage units of Oxycontin prescription pills.

At the time of arrests an additional 19 dosage units of Clonazepam prescription pills and $1,890.00 in U. S. currency were seized.

Oxycontin is a Schedule II controlled substance and Clonazepam is a Schedule IV controlled substance.

The estimated street value of the prescription pills seized is $2,600.
