The North Carolina Harmony Brigade (NCHB) is returning to the Sandhills for the 21st consecutive year to sing in close, four-part harmony, barbershop-style.
This 130-man a cappella chorus creates a rare opportunity to experience that many voices performing as one. The performance will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Owens Auditorium on the campus of Sandhills Community College.
This chorus, which is made up of accomplished quartet singers from all over the United States and several foreign countries, meets here one weekend a year to sing to an audience that follows the rich tradition of all-male a cappella-style singing. This style has been a hallmark of the local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, Golf Capital Chorus, which has been entertaining local audiences for years.
This year's NCHB performance will also feature the International Barbershop Harmony Society's 2012 bronze medal winner, "A Mighty Wind."
Tickets can be purchased in advance at The Campbell House and The Country Bookshop, in Southern Pines, and Given Book Shop, in Olmsted Village, or local NCHB members, Jerry Ritter at (910) 295-4138 or Bob Boone at (910) 295-6563, or at the door.
