Albemarle Man Pronounced Dead After Wreck

A 49-year-old Albemarle man was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle wreck Tuesday near Robbins, according to the Highway Patrol.
Lincoln Grover Barrington, of Albermarle was driving an 18-wheeler west on N.C. 24/27 Tuesday afternoon when he drove across the center line, off the road and into a ditch. The vehicle then struck a tree and then a flagpole, according to the state highway patrol.
The incident happened at 3:42 p.m.
Trapped in the vehicle following the wreck, Barrignton was removed from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Chapel Hill for an autopsy, according to the highway patrol.
No cause of the accident has been determined.
Barrington was wearing his seatbelt and was not exceeding the 55 mph speed limit, according to the state highway patrol.
