Notebook: Hanlon Records Second Ace
Hole-in-One: Linda Hanlon, of Southern Pines, scored her hole-in-one Dec. 5 while playing at Talamore. Linda used her 7-wood on the 121-yard second hole. Witnesses were Jane Pajak, Anne Thompson and Gail Threlkeld. This is Linda’s second hole-in-one.
Pinehurst: The Women’s Golf Association played Jan. 3 and the game was two best balls of the foursome on holes two and 13 and one best ball on all others.
Patricia Anderson, Joan Sponik, Bonnie Dingman and Janice Kaczmarek carded a net 68 to come in first. Diane Yelovich won low gross with 78, and Carol Wright won closest to the pin.
The Birdies played Dec. 17 and the game was “Bye-Bye Birdies,” one best ball on all holes, but at the end of play each player could throw out their worst four holes. Janice Kaczmarek, Donna Tanner, Bonnie Hanly and Dianne Yelovich, 42; Billie Oxrieder, Darlene Skinner, Joan Sponik and Shirley Potter, 45.
Birdies were recorded by Janice Kaczmarek on No. 1; Donna Tanner on No. 6 and Dianne Yelovich on holes three, four, 14 and 16.
The Men’s Golf Association played a Nassau tournament on Dec. 18, on Course No. 3. The format was one best ball on par-3 and par-5 holes and two best balls on par-4 holes.
