Police have release a photo of a suspect in an attempted armed robbery that happened Christmas Day in downtown Southern Pines.

The attempted robbery occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. at the BB&T after hours deposit box located at 200 SW Broad Street. The suspect was described as a black male, light skin, 5’6”- 5’8”, 250+ lbs., early to mid-twenties, dark colored hooded jacket, dark colored bandana covering his face, silver colored semi-automatic handgun.
