SCORE Sets 2013 Small Business Seminar Program

The Sandhills chapter of SCORE, a service organization providing free management assistance to small businesses, has announced the winter-spring, 2013 edition of its popular program of free seminars for small businesses.

This six-seminar series, to be held on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 22, is jointly sponsored by SCORE and the Small Business Center at Sandhills Community College Each seminar will be conducted by an experienced business person selected by SCORE.

The series, called "Business Basics," will be conducted from 6 to 9 p.m. and runs through Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Sandhills Community College. The schedule and topics for the six seminars are:

n Jan. 22 - The right stuff

n Jan. 29 - Great Beginnings

n Feb. 5 - Business Plan

n Feb. 12 - Marketing

n Feb. 19 - Accounting

n Feb. 26 - How to Get a Business Loan

As in previous years, SCORE will award $75 cash as an advertising stipend to every business owner who attends the five consecutive seminars starting with "Great Beginnings" on Jan. 29 through Feb. 26. SCORE is a nationwide nonprofit association of experienced business professionals who provide free, confidential counseling to small business owners. The Sandhills Chapter is active in counseling, mentoring and presenting free business seminars.

In addition to counseling by appointment, the Sandhills chapter of SCORE has drop-in service, for those who have registered, from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Fridays at the Moore County Chamber of Commerce building on U.S. 15-501 in Southern Pines.
