North Moore Boys Last Ones Standing in Hoops Playoffs

The North Moore boys are the only local high school team left standing in the state basketball playoffs that got under way with first-round games on Monday.

North Moore defeated Central Academy 74-65 in overtime in a state 1-A playoff game played at Central. The Mustangs (15-11 record) will face top seeded Winston-Salem Prep Wednesday in Winston-Salem in the a second round game.

The Pinecrest girls, the only local team to garner a first-round home playoff game, fell 50-42 to Apex. The Patriots end with a 16-10 record this year.

The North Moore girls traveled to Lake Norman Charter for their 1-A first-round game, and fell 76-44. North Moore ended with a 13-12 record.

The Pinecrest boys traveled to Middle Creek and came home on the shortend of a 60-54 score in dropping their first-round 4-A state playoff game.

The Patriots ended the season with a 15-10 mark.
