An 'Awesome' Deal

The concert at the Robert E. Lee Auditorium last Friday (Feb. 15) was excellent. The performance was absolutely superb —“awesome” in the modern vernacular.

It was presented by the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, playing traditional Chinese music, and it featured seven stars of the of the China National Orchestra.

They provided the sound of music from traditional Chinese music instruments combined with a Western orchestra. It was likely among the best and most professional concerts ever bestowed upon the residents of Moore County. And, admission was free.

It was a generous gift by former State Sen. Harris Blake, who invited them to Moore County, and Executive Director of the Arts Council of Moore County Chris Dunn, who arranged the details and raised the funding.

Admission to the same concert in Raleigh on February 17 was $25 to $45 per person.
