SP Police Ask Residents to Be Alert Following Burglaries

Southern Pines police are asking residents to be aware of their surroundings and alert for suspicious activity following a home invasion and burglary this morning.

Police say at least one subject entered a home on Pine Grove Road between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. today and assaulted the person inside.

Police confirmed that items were taken from the home, but didn't divulge what those items were. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a blue hooded shirt or jacket.

In addition to today's incident, police are investigating two other daytime burglaries that have occurred since Feb. 12 at homes on North Valley and Arbutus roads.

The Southern Pines Police Department is asking the community to report any and all suspicious individuals, vehicles or incidents to them by calling 910-692-7031 or by dialing 911. Please be prepared to provide as much descriptive information as possible to include; race, height, weight, clothing, vehicle descriptions, license plate numbers, and other identifying marks.
