First Bank Promotes Smith

First Bank has promoted Sharion Smith to office of foreign assets control officer.
Smith's new position entails bank compliance of the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act and Office of Foreign Assets Control, a news release said. She brings nearly 20 years of banking experience to this new position.
"First Bank is pleased to reward Sharion's hard work and dedication with this promotion," said Sandi Carr, First Bank senior vice president and operations manager. "She continues to work diligently to stay up-to-date on the laws and procedures involved in the compliance of these government banking requirements."
A longtime resident of Montgomery County, Smith graduated from East Montgomery High School and attended North Carolina Central University and Sandhills Community College. She also has attended numerous courses and classes regarding compliance in her areas of expertise.
An active member of the community, Smith is the current president of Ladies of Destiny Civic Group and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 358.
Smith and her husband, Jim, reside in Jackson Springs and attend the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Ellerbe.
