A Fine Ride

Devin Lockey’s response to “So Many Bikers, So Few Trails” (Feb. 6) is partially correct. Indeed the local paths he mentions do exist for joggers, hikers and walkers, but not for bikes. Those paths are too dangerous for bikes.
The nearest trail for biking is the American Tobacco Trail, an hour and 15 minutes from Pinehurst. It begins in Wake County, penetrates Chatham County and ends in Durham County at Southpoint Mall.
Construction continues to reach I-40 where a bridge is to be constructed. From there it will join the existing ATT to the Durham Bulls ball park. Time of completion is July of this year.
Meanwhile, the ATT, south of I-40, is a fine ride. No motor vehicles allowed.

The All American Trail, along the southern and western boundaries of Ft Bragg, is open to bikers.
