Police Investigate Reported Robbery at Reservoir Park

Southern Pines police are investigating a report of a robbery that occurred today at Reservoir Park.

Today at 2:25 p.m. a robbery was reported to the Southern Pines Police Department at Reservoir Park, 300 Reservoir Road.

A victim reported that while in Reservoir Park, he was approached by a white male possibly of American Indian decent with a thick mustache, facial hair, 5’11”, 180 lbs, wearing a white tee shirt, grey jogging pants, a black winter hat and white tennis shoes.

It was reported that this suspect produced a small caliber handgun and demanded money. The suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot towards Central Drive.

Let's make it six miles per hour. We can set the record for the country. It will go along with the notorius speed traps that we became famous for across the planet, being written up as a place to get a complentary speeding ticket with your couple of rounds of golf. Come to Pinehurst, play three rounds of golf, get a ticket and meet the local cops.

This was before the new police chief, whom I've met and respect. Don't give in.

My wife and I went to Hilton Head Island for a week, saw one police car. We came to back to Pinehurst, in the four miles traveling through our town, we were tracked by three speed traps. I'm no kid, if you know what I mean, a few years from social security, but lets stop this nonsense. If you can't drive safely at 35, you can't drive safely at any speed. Stop trying to save us all from an incident.

It doesn't matter what the limit is if you can't drive. I have seen two neighbors drive into trees and mail boxes, no darting deer.

We have been a safe community for years, the only two incidents of significance I can remember in the last decade, one of which was fatal right by the village, happened to be caused by seniors who had no business having a driver's license.

I really don't want to go to six miles per hour, but there are people who can not drive safely at any speed.

I'm glad no one was hurt; but I guess the bad guy didn't see that this park is a "gun free" zone :) Yip, just another example of bad guys knowing where to find their unarmed prey.

Time has come for honest law abiding citizens to have the right to protect ourselves. End GUN-FREE ZONES. The criminals surely are not playing by the rules.

What a shame that we can no longer walk in our local parks and around Southern Pines due to the habitual sorry creeps that don't want to get out and make a living for themselves.
Unfortunately, it has come to the point where we all need something to protect ourselves with. So if you're in a gun free zone take a baseball bat, golf club, pepper spray or something to protect yourself.

Make conceal carry legal everywhere.If the sheriff dept. Says it is ok for one to carry, one should be allowed to carry everywhere. Not for the purpose of being a vigilante, but to protect one self and others when the time is necessary to protect.

Thank God, we have that right here in Alaska. We can carry almost anywhere, and no permit needed. If you are legal to possess a firearm, you can concealed carry. We can also be a good Samaritan if we come upon the circumstance that someone is needing lethal force to keep them from getting hurt as a victim in a crime. Everywhere in our country needs to go to this and like you said Wanderingmind, Get Rid of Gun Free Zones!!!!
