Bob Farren, director of golf course and grounds management at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, was one of only 25 superintendents across the country chosen to recently attend an executive professional development seminar, the Syngenta Business Institute at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem.

During an intensive three-day seminar, participants gained knowledge in financial and human resources management, delegation and negotiation skills, effective communications techniques, managing generational differences and more, a news release said. The unique program provided ideas and tools to assist superintendents in their careers and offer valuable benefits to the courses they manage.

"Our intention was to create a program through a leading business school that supplemented and complemented their existing knowledge base," said Stephanie Schwenke, golf market manager for Syngenta. "A professional educational program like this is incomparable within the industry."
