Fifteen-year-old Caleb Elliott is the winner of the MIRA Foundation's Sandhills Has Talent competition.

The young comedian wowed judges and the audience with his original standup routine and won the most votes via text message to win the top prize.

Elliott was one of 16 contestants in this year's competition, held at the Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines Friday evening.

Singer and guitar player Lizzie Womack won the competition's "Emerging Artist" award, while The Broads, rock band of Hunter Boyer, Caleb Gellert, Alex Wandrey and Sam Ronalter, placed third and singer Britton Buchanan placed second.

This is MIRA's second year hosting the talent show, which raises money to help the foundation provide guide dogs to visually impaired children.
