Carthage Woman Faces Charges in Prescription Drug Fraud Case

Moore County Sheriff's investigators have arrested a Carthage woman and charged her with obtaining prescription pills by fraud, according to Sheriff Lane Carter.

Jennifer Lynn Wood, 25, of 304 Barrett Street, was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of felony trafficking in Opiates, felony obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation to a healthcare provider, and felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

Sheriff Carter reported the investigation was conducted by officers from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and involved an individual obtaining approximately 90 dosage units of Endocet prescription pills and 210 dosage units of Methadone prescription pills by misrepresentation to a healthcare provider.

Endocet and Methadone are Schedule II controlled substances.

Wood received a $10,000 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County jail.
