Village: Spend, Spend, Spend

The village of Pinehurst taxpayers once again are in dire need of protection from the irresponsible spending of their politicians and their “hired guns,” those unimaginative consultants with nothing of merit to offer except saccharine endorsements.

Now it’s the $2.7 million parking structure.

Why have our mayors and councils for years been so enthusiastically intent on making the village into a beehive of economic activity? Money, as in more tax revenue, more money to spend, more power; all the while proclaiming that they, and they alone, know what’s best for both the village and us.

“Best,” of course, as in more parking, more tourists, more condos, more roads, more traffic, more shops, more taxes.

Surely I’m not the only one to move to this “li’l ol’ Carolina village” to escape the very same benefits that are now being forced on us.

My question: What would James Walker Tufts do?”

I'm just glad to see that they're spending tax money on something besides more high dollar, gas guzzling, police cruisers. I think 20 is plenty!! lol By the way, is it not still illegal to have public parking on unpaved lots in Southern Pines, but not in Pinehurst.

The Village and County Government have one thing in common ~ spending. Try to find parking in Carthage on days when court is in session. Perhaps bus service from Pinehurst parking deck to the Judicial Center (the one that was supposed to be connected), transport inmates to the jail after stopping off at the JC when it's built.
