Jiangguo Leads Chinese Orchestra in Free Concert

The Arts Council of Moore County presents the Chinese National Orchestra and the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra in a joint concert on Friday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. at Robert E. Lee Auditorium on the campus of Pinecrest High School.
To receive your free tickets, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the ACMC/China Orchestra Tickets, P.O. Box 405, Southern Pines, NC 28388, or you can pick up your tickets at the Campbell House (482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines).
"Please limit your request to four tickets," says a spokesman.
He Jiangguo is a conductor of the China National Orchestra and the founder of contemporary Chinese-style composite percussion. He graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music, where he earned a master's degree after studying under professor Wu Lingfen and learning symphonic conducting skills under professor Xu Xin.
He conducted the China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra as well as CNO several times in the past, while visiting dozens of international orchestras in countries such as Russia, United States, Germany, Japan and Egypt, and won numerous awards from the Chinese Ministry of Culture.
The concert is made possible with help from the towns of Aberdeen and Southern Pines, Arts Council of Moore County, Harris Blake, Moore County Chamber of Commerce, Moore County Schools, village of Pinehurst, Art Swanson and Thermal Metal Treating Inc.
