Glassblowing Course Rescheduled

The Introduction to Glassblowing course at STARworks has been rescheduled for Feb. 21 through April 11.
The class will meet every Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. The class has been rescheduled to allow more time for registration.
Students will work in STARworks' state-of-the-art glass lab, where they will learn the fundamentals of glassblowing.
They will gain hands-on experience and learn the basics of the hot shop, tools and equipment. Students will create paperweights, vessels and free-form sculptures that they will get to take home.
Glassblowing expert Suzie Ririe will teach the course. Ririe earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in glassblowing at the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2004.
She has 12 years' experience in glassblowing and spent five years teaching introductory to advanced glassblowing classes at the Pittsburgh Glass Center.
Seats for the class are limited to nine people, and preregistration is required.
The deadline to register is Feb. 18. The course fee is $325, due at registration.
A Valentine's open house will be held Friday, Feb. 8, 6 to 8 p.m. Gifts are available for purchase.
