Pinehurst will never have tasted so sweet on Saturday, Feb. 9, as the first Wine and Chocolate Affair comes to the village.

Attendees can sip, stroll and shop their way through the village of Pinehurst and also be entertained by local musicians at various tasting stations.

The event will feature 20 tasting locations to include many of the village shops and restaurants.

Along the way, volunteers of The Arc will pour fine wines for tasting from Triangle Wine, and chocolate samplings and small bites will be offered.

The organizers of the event, Fields and Fairways Inc., announce three chocolatiers from around the country will be in Moore County just for this occasion.

They include: Little Bits - small batch English toffee creator from Boston; Chocolate Boutique - truffle chef and make-your-own chocolate party master from Raleigh; and The Secret Chocolatier - featuring a family of chocolate makers from Charlotte.

Each tasting location will feature a wine and or chocolate sample to tantalize the senses.

Locally owned restaurants and chefs will create unique dishes with a chocolate flair. Each creative element will be accompanied by sips of delicious vintages all expertly matched by Triangle Wines.

Tickets for the event are $30 per person, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Arc of Moore County.

"The Arc is a perfect partner for this Valentine event as it is dedicated to the love of children where they focus on improving the quality of life for children of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout Moore County," says organizer Carla St. Germain, of Fields and Fairways Inc.

Tickets are available at participating merchants in the village of Pinehurst, through Triangle Wines (near Kohl's), by calling (910) 687-0377 or online at www.Inside Pinehurst.com.

As with previous Wine Walks, the tickets are limited and a sellout is anticipated, so people are urged to buy tickets soon.

The event will begin at 4 p.m. at Given Memorial Library and conclude at 8 p.m. Upon check-in, each participant will need to present a valid ID (must be 21 years of age or older) and will receive a wristband, wine glass and a tasting guide identifying each participating business and the selection of sampling locations.
