Patriots Blank Pirates 24-0 on Homecoming Night

2012 Pinecrest Homecoming Queen Zoe Harrison, escorted by Dallas Roemer. She is the daughter of Aaron and Lillian Harrison of West End. Harrison was crowed at halftime of Friday's football against Lumberton. Pinecrest won the game, 24-0.

Pinecrest opened its Southeastern Conference slate and celebrated homecoming night with a convincing 24-0 win over visiting Lumberton tonight.

The Patriots jumped out to a 16-0 halftime lead, and added eight points in the second half while holding the visiting Pirates scoreless.

The shutout victory is the first for Pinecrest in conference play since a 7-0 triumph over Hoke County in 2008. The win also snapped a 10-game losing streak to Lumberton dating back to 1993.

Pinecrest is now 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Lumberton drops to 4-2, 0-1.

In other local high school football action, North Moore fell 39-0 to visiting North Rowan in a Yadkin Valley Conference game that was cut short by inclement weather.

North Moore is now 0-7 and 0-3 in the conference.

Union Pines lost 51-28 to visiting Western Harnett in Cape Fear Valley Conference action. Union Pines is now 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Great job Patriots! How come people are so quick to criticize and complain about the team when they lose, but never give the boys any credit or praise when they win? Win or lose, they are always going to be my Patriots. Great job to the coaches and to the boys, let's keep this momentum going!
