I certainly enjoyed Steve Bouser’s column “Let’s Vow to Preserve This Priceless Heritage” (Sept. 12). You hit the nail on the head describing the feeling of hitting the beach at Oak Island.

We are new to North Carolina and have just found that area, Southport in particular, awesome. I really appreciate that those beaches and small town are available to us. Thank you so much for telling the readers how fragile this coast and others are to us. We do take it all for granted so many times.
