Hole-in-One: Terry Michael scored an ace Sept. 11 at the Hyland Golf Club. He used his 7-iron to cover the 135 yards to the green of the sixth hole. His playing partners were Jose Cabarra and Gary Phillips.
Jerry Fitzgerald recorded a hole-in-one Aug. 22 on the 10th hole at Hyland Golf Club. He used his 7-iron to cover the 149 yards to the green. Playing with him were Ted Ray and Ricky Luck.
Midland: The Men’s Golf Association played Sept. 19 in a two best balls of each threesome. Neil Hartwick, Joe Alden and Ted Meyers carded 129. Henry Fuhrmann won low gross with 88.
The 9-Holers played a low net and skins competition. Skins – Rick Stone on hole No. 1, Charles Childers on holes No. 4 and No. 9, John McMahon on hole No. 5, and Bob Mellinger on hole No. 7. Jim Braunscheidel won low net with 29.
The Ladies Golf Association played Sept. 13 and the game was individual low net. The 18-Hole Ladies division was won by Georgia Snow with 76. The 9-Hole Ladies – Flight 1 – Doris Stone, 33. Flight 2 – Carol Linthicum, 38.
Whispering Pines: The Men’s Golf Association played Sept. 19 and the game was two best net balls of the foursome. Bill Stripling, Jim McDevitt, John Saul and Win Loughlin, 125; Dick Mills, Fred Gruninger, Roger Amoroso and Bob Flesca, 126; Art Woodward, Bill Saylor, Bill Hobbs and Larry Pierce, 127.
Hal Dugenske won the Men’s Golf Association stroke play championship, held Sept. 12 and 13, with a total gross score of 151. Chuck Daley was second with 155.
Senior Flight 1 – Jim Kelley won in a playoff with Chet Paff at 155. Senior Flight 2 – George Venet, 160; Paul Hallet, 174.
Super Senior Flight – Fred Gruninger, 178; Bill Saylor, 179.
Seven Lakes: The Nine Hole Lakers played Sept. 12 and the game was to throw out the first, fourth and fifth holes. Flight 1 – Jane Franks, 19; Dot Sparke, 23. Flight 2 – Judy Collins, 12; Joan Anderson, 18.
A Sandy Niners competition was held at Seven Lakes and the format was two best net balls of the foursome. The winning team at 64 was Patty Publino of Beacon Ridge, Carol Dunn of Seven Lakes, Linda Schubert of Whispering Pines, and Diane Hendrick of Midland/Knollwood.
Foxfire: The Ladies Golf Association played Sept. 19 in an individual low net game on the East Course. Anita Clapp, tied at 73, with Judy Dickerson and Kim Spaulding; Sue Durham, 74; Leslie Frusco, 75.
The Men’s Golf Association played their club championship Sept. 10, 11 and 12. The champion was decided in three rounds, the first on the East Course and the remaining two on the West Course. Dale Andress is the 2012 champion with rounds of 74-80-77 for 229. Mark Young, 79, 80, 78 for a 237 tie with Rob Sheldon, 78-77-82.
Flight 1 – Steve Durham, 165; Jon Sedlak, 170; Charley Barr, 172. Flight 2 – Ed Spaulding, 165; Bill Facey, 168; John Hunter, 169. Flight 3 – Wayne Montalvo, 179; Don Bahr, 182; Jack Frusco, 182. Flight 4 – Mike Cray, 188; John Dziminowicz, tied at 192, with Bill Marks and David Meldrum.
Whispering Woods: The Men’s Golf Association played Sept. 19 in an individual low gross and low net. Gross – Joe Layman, 78. Net – Ken Pomeroy, 68.
On Sept. 17 the game was a team event with three low net scores needed for scoring. The team of Joe Layman, Charlie Brady, Bill Anderson and Tom Lyon won with 185.
On Sept. 19 the game was an individual low net and high net contest. Joe Layman won low net with 66. Charley Frick won high nest with 75.
Pinehurst: The Chippers played on Course No. 6, Sept. 19, in even holes, plus the 9th hole, with 50 percent of each player’s handicap used for scoring. First – Joanne Drengler, 22. Second – Francine Smarrelli, 23. Third – Carol Nevis, 24.
The Birdies played Sept. 17, on Course No. 6, in an individual tournament. Gross: Donna Tanner, 78. Net: Joyce McWane, 69; Carol Hannah, 71.
The Women’s Golf Association played a Nassau tournament Sept. 20, on Course No. 5. The tournament was called “Cool Off In The Mountains.” The format only allowed holes with elevations to be used for scoring. (two, three, four, nine, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17). Overall: Patricia Beranek, Gail Ford, Darlind Davis, Janice Mellus, 89; Nancy B. Geddes, Estelle Menke, Judi Avist, Mary Kay Monteith, 91.
Front nine – Lisa Carothers, Roe Lyons, Pat Milligan, Elizabeth Strachan, 49 (MOC); Irene Corbin, Susan M. Smith, Diane Becker, Patti O’Day, 49 (MOC).
Back nine – Helen Brissettee, Audrae Thibodeau, Ann Culwick, Myrna Spencer, 42; Gloria Sectish, Joan Sponik, Mary Pappas, Judie Roensch, 43.
Patricia Williamson won low gross with 81.
Beacon Ridge: The Men’s Golf Association played their ace of aces qualifying tournament for September: White tees – Gross – Dennis Brobst, 79. Net – Larry Anderson, 70. Gold tees – Gross – Bruce Bedder, 83. Net – Bill Robertson, 67.
The Beaconettes played Sept. 20 in a par-4s- two-best-ball team event. First – Carol Skau, Pat Dublino, Ann Doster and Ellie Lyons, 37; Sally Terrutty, Ruth Shannon, Lore Olsen and Alice Shaughnessy, 41.
Pinewild: The Men’s Golf Association played a peer play competition on the Holly Course.Flight 1 – Gross – Andy Gwaltney, 75; Denny Fogle, 78 (MOC); Jim Moon, 78 (MOC). Net – Dwight Pike, 69; Bob Behnke, 71; Greg McDuffie, 74. Flight 2 – Gross – Ted Davison, 81; Johann Rudzitis, 83; Tom Vicenik, 84. Net – Tony Alvarez, 70; Tim Moore, 72 (MOC); Warren Crabill, 72 (MOC).

On the Holly Course, Tom Vicenik won closest to the pin honors on No. 3, Glenn Manich on No. 8, Ted Davison on No. 12 and Norm Elliott on No. 17.
Woodlake: The Woodlake Men’s and Ladies Golf Associations hosted a championship weekend Sept. 15 and 16. Competitions for low gross and low net in each group were played on both the Palmer and Maples Courses. Mark Macejko, the 2012 men’s champion, playing from the blue tees, scored 146. White tees: Gross – John Misiaszek, 156. Net – Rex Whitaker, 138. Gold tees: Gross – Joe Buracker, 158. Net – Ken Schmidt, 136.
Pam Congelosi is the 2012 women’s champion with a gross score of 164.
Flight 1 – Darla Howe, gross 185. Net – Lynn Ball, 142. Flight 2 – Pam Jones, 208. Net Pat Hruska, 156. Flight 3 – Barbara McCleneghen, 223. Net – Carolyn Roberts, 146.
