North Moore Girls Top 'Dogs in League Tennis

The North Moore girls’ tennis team got back on the winning track with a 9-0 shutout victory at Albemarle Wednesday. This is the Lady Mustangs’ second 9-0 win over the Lady Bulldogs this season.

The win improves the Mustangs’ record to 4-7 in Yadkin Valley Conference action.

Senior Shannon Marley got the Mustangs going with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Carrie Snicker in the battle of No. 1s while Mustang junior, Cierra McDonald, defeated Mattie Blalock 6-2, 6-0 at the second spot. Senior Clarissa Gomez picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory for the Mustangs at No. 3. North Moore freshman Stephanie McNeill had the toughest match, going three sets before beating Soni Xion at No. 4. Sophomore Lydia Priest won 6-4, 6-4 over the Bulldogs’ V. Nyugen at No. 5. Mustang freshman Keely Cleaveland blanked Jakah Grumbly 6-0, 6-0 in the final singles match

The Mustangs swept the three doubles matches to complete the 9-0 win.
