The Bethesda Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen recently presented donations to two local groups from funds raised at its first Bethesda Backyard Barbecue and Craft Fair.

The Moore Free Clinic was given $8,650 from the proceeds, and the Aberdeen Elementary School was given $4,200.

Tony Price, executive director of the Moore Free Clinic, and Sharon Castelli, associate principal from AES, came to speak at the church and give an overview of their programs.

This event was truly an effort of cooperation between the community and congregation with more than 16 local crafters and vendors participating, as well as many private donations.

The success of this event and the benefit to the community was so overwhelming that the church has voted unanimously to hold the event again next year, says a spokesman.

Those interested in participating or donating next year should call the church at (910) 944-1319.
