Pinecrest took a 30-0 halftime lead on its way to a 36-7 win at Western Harnett in a nonconference matchup in Harnett County, while both Union Pines and North Moore lost their respective conference openers in local high school football tonight.
Union Pines failed to score in its Cape Fear Valley Conference visit to Overhills in falling to the Jags 46-0. The Mustangs, playing their first home game of the season, dropped a 42-6 decision to West Montgomery.
Pinecrest is now 3-2 for the season, all nonconference play. Union Pines fell to 2-3, 0-1 conference. North Moore remains winless for the season, looking at an 0-5 overall mark and 0-1 in Yadkin Valley Conference action.
