Sheriff: Carthage Man Charged With Prescription Pill Fraud

A Carthage man has been charged with obtaining controlled prescription pills by fraud, Moore County Sheriff Lane Carter reported.

Edward Charles Thomas, 56, of 153 Rose Lane, was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts of felony obtaining controlled substance by misrepresentation to a healthcare provider.

The arrest stems from an investigation conducted by officers from the Moore County Sheriff’s

Office Narcotics Unit and that involved an individual obtaining Oxycodone prescription pills by misrepresentation to a healthcare provider. Oxycodone is a Schedule II controlled substances.

Thomas received a $2,500 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County Detention Center.
