Patriots Face Scots Tonight in League Volleyball Showdown

The Pinecrest volleyball team (10-0) prepped for tonight’s (Tuesday) home conference showdown against Scotland High (8-0) by defeating Mount Tabor and Laney in Wilmington on Saturday.

The battle of unbeatens starts at 6 p.m. (Junior varsity game starts at 5 p.m.)

In Saturday's action, the Patriots dropped their first set of the season 25-20 to Mount Tabor before winning the next three games 25-13, 25-21 and 28-26. The attack was led by Janea Williams with 13 kills, and Felicia Painter and Amber Goodwin with 10 each.

Setter Megan Thomas had 26 assists to go with 13 digs. Libero Keegan Lynch had 17 digs and Goodwin had five blocks. Katie Smith contributed five assists and eight digs.

The Patriots defeated Laney, the host team, 25-20, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-16. Thomas was credited with 34 assists and 12 digs, and Lynch had 13 digs.

Also for the Pats, Williams had 15 kills, Mary Grace Phipps had six kills and eight digs and Goodwin contributed 11 kills and seven blocks. Madison Walling had six digs.
