Woodlake: The Ladies Niners played a “true/false” event Aug. 27 on the Maples Course. Flight A: Pat Hruska, 17; Barb Misiaszek, 18; Barb Johnson, 20. Flight B: Bev Lawson, 21 (MOC); Barb Schmidt, 21 (MOC); Susan James, 23. Flight C: Ellen Harris, 18; Mary Lawrie, 18; Margaret Corbin, 21.
Midland: The Ladies Golf Association played Aug. 23 in a low net – nine-holes game. Flight 1 – Sally Kelly, 36; Penny Higgins, 37. Flight 2 – Georgia Snow, 36; Carolyn Crenson, 37.
The Men’s Golf Association played Aug. 29 in a nine-hole skins game along with a low net competition. John Durkin won a skin on No. 13 and Bill Crenson on No. 16. John Durkin also won low net.
Pinewild: The Men’s Golf Association played Aug. 23 in an away game at Southern Pines Golf Club. The game was two best balls of the foursome. First – Rich Winkley, Ted Davison, Ed Rackowski, Gordon Rednour, 20 under par. Second – George Watterworth, Pete Nehlsen, Paul Jones, Jim Keffer, 19 under par. Third – Doug Leidy, Fred Berry, Tom Ellers, Kevin Carroll, 18 under par.
The Women’s Golf Association played Aug. 28 in an ABCD tournament on the Magnolia Course. Marilyn Otto, Sally Manich, Nanette Prosser, Jeanne Alvarez, 105; April Zelinski, Gay Strojny, Pat Marki, Paula Lyszyk, 108; Jean Grieshaber, Inge Stipe, Linda Critizer, Lynn Moore, 109 (MOC); Kay Rednour, Dee McMahon, Sandy Schnare, Barbara Vincenti, 109 (MOC); Debra Regula, Pat King, Sue Jacobsen, Jan Behnke, 110.
Pat Marki won closest to the pin on No. 3, Karen Wirt on No. 7, Judy Mills on No. 12, and Paula Lyszyk on No. 15.
Longleaf: The Women’s Golf Association played in a Stableford team net scores only tournament. Carol Crook, Diane Steele, Joan Baldwin, Sally Emerine, 46; Suzanne Faker, Sandy Carroll, Gloria Botnick, Sandra Eriksson, 35.
Seven Lakes: The Women’s Golf Association played Aug. 28 in a scramble tournament: Peggy Ballew, Marge Blake, Nancy Peterson, Eddy Starkey, 77; Joyce Charles, Betty Larson, Lillian Schafer, Dot Sparke, 78.
The Nine Hole Lakers played Aug. 29 in a two-putt-maximum contest: Flight 1 – Kathy Goodman, 33; Diane Boson, 34. Flight 2 – Mary Ellen Lorion, 31; Judy Hogan, 34.
Whispering Pines: Twilight golf was played Aug. 24 on the West Course and the team winners were: Tom and Barbara Murphy with Butch and Donna Granados, 22.75; Bill and Ginny Campling with Bob and Peg Flygar, 24.5; Tom and Sallie Daughtrey with Rich and Chris Mancuso, 24.75.
The Ninettes played Aug. 28 in a “crier’s tourney” on the back nine of the East Course. Flight 1 – Margaret Pluff, 14; Mary Jakucyk, 16. Flight 2 – Donna Renfro, 8.5.
The Men’s Golf Association played Aug. 29 in a captain’s choice event on the West Course. Competition was on the following tees: White – Bill Wade, Don MacIlvaine and Joe Thomas, 54.67; Gold – Flight 1: Dick Hammond, Fred Gruninger, John Rossi and Chris Reitler, 48.65. Flight 2 – John Saul, Rich Mancuso, Tom McKeon and Junior Jones, 49.75.
The Pinettes played Aug. 28 in an ABCD cha cha cha format. Judy Woodward, Nancy O’Connell, Sharon Mathais, Millie Mills, 114; Mary Ann Blake, Sue Brammer, Pam Venet, Joyce Reitler, 114; Marilyn Merry, Sallie Daughtrey, Betty Hendrix, Sandra Grose, 117.
Pinehurst: The Birdies played Aug. 27 in a game of “rack ’em up” using the Stableford points format. Sue Ferretti, Margaret Banke, Nancy McNally, Sue Griggs, 61; Carol Hannah, Darlene Skinner, Barbara Ann Miller, Gail Ford, 57 points; Joan Sponik, Brenda Thomas, Jan Kuklok, Debbie Sizer, 55 points.
The Silver Foils played Aug. 28 in a one best ball of the foursome format. Gay Padgett, Flossie Parks, Terri Harmicar, Betsy Bindley, 52; Ro Kachel, Cathy Renner, Joyce McWane, Gay Griffith, 61; Mary Wardrop, Jan Kuklok, Lynne Heilman, Zona Willis, 62.
The Chippers played Aug. 29 on Course No. 6 and the game was throw out the worst hole, and 90 percent of each player’s handicap was used for scoring. Nancy Mooney, 26; Carol Nevins, 27; Diane Sanford, 29.
Knollwood: The Men’s Golf Association played Aug. 28 in a four man, two best ball contest. First – Len Grasso, Jim Burrill, Don Palmer, Joe Alden, 57; Steve Zachary, John Conroy, Wallace Gourley, Dick Baird, 57 (MOC); Rick Stone, Barry Mulhallen, Chuck Crum, John Durkin, 58.
Jim Burrill and Rick Stone tied at gross 39. Closest to the pin was Rick Stone. Paul Leach scored an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole.
The Rainmakers played Aug. 29 in a low gross and low net mystery hole tournament. Flight 1 – Gross: Penny Higgins, 36. Peggy Jones, 39. Net: Dee Hancock, 29; Judy Smith, tied at 31, with Chris Mastaler. Flight 2 – Gross: Lucky Levin, 44; Linda Parke, 45. Net: Carolyn Crenson, Liz Green and Joan Mangrum, all tied at 31. Flight 3 – Gross: Miyuki Kallagis tied at 47, with Peggy Crew. Net: Honey Hackett, 27; Carole Amlot, 31.
Whispering Woods: The Men’s Golf Association played Aug. 24 in a one best ball of the foursome event. Joe Layman, Tony Rodriguez, Rich Moran and Tom Lyon scored 56.
On Aug. 27 the Men’s Golf Association played an alternating red, white and blue tees scoring 3, 2, 1, net scores. The winning team was Joe Layman, Charlie Brady, Tony Rodriguez, Glen Bernhard at 117.
On Aug. 29 the Men’s Golf Association played a team event with one net ball needed for scoring on the first six holes, two net balls on the second six holes, and three net balls on the last six holes. The winning team was Joe Layman, Bob Carlson, Bud Henty and a Blind Draw with a score of 116.
The Ladies Golf Association played a low gross and low net tournament Aug. 28: Carol Carlson, gross 80; Pat Punch, net 74.
Beacon Ridge: The Beaconettes played Aug. 30 in a two best ball of the foursome tournament. The winners: Lore Olsen, Sandra Easter, Pat Wartman and Pat Dublino, 62; Ann Doster, Linda Talbot and Mary Price, 68.
