Grover Bullin of Wilson has been elected into the Carolinas PGA Section Hall of Fame.
CPGA President Mike Casto announced that Bullin is the 43rd inductee into the section’s hall. Since its creation in 1981, the CPGA Hall of Fame has honored CPGA members who have made extraordinary contributions, not only to the Carolinas PGA Section, but to the sport of golf as a whole.
Bullin is recognized as a cornerstone of developing the game of golf in eastern North Carolina.
He spent the entirety of his professional golf career as head golf professional at Wilson County Club starting in 1947 until his retirement in 1989.
During his career at Wilson CC, Bullin was known for his selfless approach to the game and his work to cultivate programs for junior and women golfers.
Following his retirement as head professional, Bullin continued to grow the game by providing lessons for the Wilson County Parks and Recreation Department and developed fundraisers for underprivileged youth in the area.
“Having the opportunity to call and inform Mr. Bullin of his election into the Carolinas PGA Hall of Fame was a moment I will always treasure,” Casto said. “I believe the one thing that stands out most about Grover is the love and respect the members of Wilson Country Club hold for him. Having served as the head PGA professional at Wilson CC for more than 42 years is a testament to his professionalism and service to his club.”
Bullin was elected Carolinas PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 1962. He served on the CPGA Board of Directors from 1964-1966.
In his honor, Wilson Country Club annually gives a golf scholarship at Barton College in his name.
The Grover Bullin Endowed Scholarship was established in 1989, at the time of his retirement, and is used in place of institutional aid to a member of the golf team.
Bullin will be officially inducted into the Carolinas PGA Hall of Fame during the Carolinas Awards and Honors Dinner Feb. 17, 2013, at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
