Agree With Letter

I have never agreed more with a letter than the one written by Jordan Rhodes, “They Won’t Admit They’re Wrong” (Oct. 28).

If we have four more years of President Obama’s “leadership,” I am petrified to think of the future for my children and grandchildren. God bless and help the America that we know and love.

I can imagine how fearful the author must be what with the low taxes, high corporate profits, low corporate taxes, secure gun rights (we have 3,000 more gun dealers today than when Obama took office), not to mention winding down two wars.

It must be quite a disappointment to have President Obama do none of the things right-wingers expected and instead make serious improvements to the country. Maybe you'll have better luck tearing things down in 2016.

Heim, you are a bully in your own mind. I waste my time to point out that you are living on a different world from the rest of us. Otherwise you would have seen the deterioration of the veritable fabric of our country since 2008. It began before that when it became clear that Obama would win the election as folks began to retreat knowing that destruction was coming and it did come! Thankfully, Mitt Romney - despite Snoop Dogg's rejection of him - will be the next President and you will see an almost immediate return to business as usual. Markets expanding, jobs, jobs, jobs. Reduction of tension in the middle east and elsewhere. Hugo Chavez will denounce Mitt's election - as will all lefties, Heim included, and a free for all will ensue in their circles. But, it will die out and Mitt will restore our dignity in the world and things will purr again instead of the clinking and grinding of the past 4 years. Amen!

marathonman - Name one right you've lost since Obama was inaugurated. Tell us what taxes he's increased. Tell me what law abiding citizen has had his gun confiscated.

Show me one jobs-related bill that's come to a vote in the Republican-led house of representatives.

Your side whinges and whimpers all day about the terrible things Obama has done to ruin you lives and can't specify how he's done that. That's why he'll be re-elected next week.

One tax increase - Obamacare (so say the Supremes).

Jim you are ignorant. NDAA Sections 1021 and 1022, these are rights lost. But Jimmy you wouldn't know that because all major news sources refuse to talk about it. This was promised by Barry not to be passed into law. Yet on 12/31/11 at 23:30 the POTUS signed this into law. I know it is hard to see the truth and the facts, but you are making it harder by having your head up your a$$. If you don't believe look up Amber Lyon, who was released from CNN because she wouldn't do what the money told her like every other lame journalist. She blew the whistle and they sent her packing.

Obama promised to take care of immigration within the first year of his term, yet a bill was never drafted.....seems he is like every other liar in public office.

0

Noluv4thugs 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Just so you know Jim. I railed people that were and are in favor of the Patriot Act too. To me both are clear violations of our constitution. Something you seem not to care about.......

for heim: drilling leases in the Gulf of Mexico, pipeline from Canada to TX, Obamacare... today I found that Medicare has limited the amount of money that can be used on rehab now capped at $1880.00/person/year, fuel for your car doubled, Benghazi lies, stimulus fraud, one gun manufacturer was run out of business thus many many fewer guns available, etc.......why do we waste time with you. You are hopeless, but should Obama get reelected, you might be one of his cabinet members..........

Perhaps you should have begun worrying about your and everyone elses' future when NASA was spending $500.00 for a hammer and $1,600 for a toilet!

Perhaps when the bridge to no where was built or the airport that cost millions for one Senator to fly-in a couple of times a year! Perhaps all of that Pork Barrel Politics occurred on Obama's watch? That's as ludicrous as your letter!

JimHeim 6 months, 3 weeks ago

marathonman - We are awash in so much oil and natural gas that we're starting to export it. Drilling in the Gulf is going strong with thousands of working wells. We have six times as many wells being drilled than under Bush. Obama does not control the cost of gas at the pump any more than Bush did. It's a global resource priced globally. Benghazi is a conservative fantasy being ignored by rational people.. Stimulus fraud is like voter fraud - largely non-existent. We are awash in guns.

I asked what rights you've lost and you couldn't name one.NoLuv4Thugs is correct about NDAA. Unfortunately, Romney would probably be even worse.

There are a lot of things I don't approve of that the president supports. In every case. Republican policy on those issues is vastly worse.

Luckily Mr. Obama is on course for at least 300 electoral votes and will be inaugurated again next January.

Each Election becomes more desperate than the last one as the theory of voting for the lesser of the two evils goes into full swing. The public, rather than voting for a third party or simply not voting at all which is a vote of no confidence in the system. The public will simply put more energy into what they are already doing. If they can only find that magical candidate that can fix all their problems. Oblamer and Romney.....Much ado about nothing. No matter who wins the trend of the welfare, warfare state will continue. The Lemmings are still heading to the cliff.

Your fear is well warranted, Ms. Smith. But take heart...Romney's going to win.

Here's JimHeim again, echoing DR and predicting an Obama landslide...as if he (they) have secret, inside information. When JimHeim explains how Bush inherited a "$1 trillion surplus," maybe I'll pay attention to his posts. I certainly have no way of knowing how the election will turn out...and the truth is, in spite of their false bravado, neither does JimHeim or DustyRhoades. They'll never admit it, and will continue to try to dispirit conservatives. I do, however, feel great about Romney's chances. We'll see on Tuesday. Cheers!

Thatcher and Geoff...don't worry about Heim...he is so pro Democrat that he is anti-America! He would rather see the country fail than not have a stinking liberal piece of crap in office!! Course he gets it honestly...obama has no respect for the country either.

0

Yukonjohn 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Hey Thatcher!! Hope all is well. Now, I think that probably the President will win a squeaker, or not. I also believe that no matter who wins, unless it is Gov. Johnson, it is not going to make a hill of beans difference!! While it will be so very sad, it will be a bit funny when, if Mitt Romeny wins, that he gets us into another war right away, or starts spending money faster than the President. He is not conservative, never has been, probably never will be.

0

Yukonjohn 6 months, 3 weeks ago

But l also think that if the President wins, he will bankrupt our nation in less than two years.

0

Yukon, if Obama wins, the economy goes off the cliff in Jan, 2013. Skyline, Jim's the face of the new Democratic/Socialist American party. They don't see European countries economic failures as failure. More time is needed...that's all. What can you say about folks like that?

0

Yukonjohn 6 months, 3 weeks ago

And Geoff, l am sorely afraid that if Mitt Romney is elected, the economy will go over the cliff by the end of next year. They are two peas in the same pod. Our country is on the fast track to hades.

0

geoffcutler 6 months, 3 weeks ago

I mean...what do you say about people who should be stuffing wads into the holes in their boat, who instead drive more holes?

0

geoffcutler 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Yukon...you're wrong. If Romney's elected, the stock market will soar, and unemployment will drop within 2 months to 6% on psychology of economics alone. Business is scared under Obama. They, like individuals, won't invest. Romney wins, the country changes overnight. Everybody smiles again. You've given up too soon.

0

Yukonjohn 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Geoff, l so hope you are dead right!! I would love to say l was "out to lunch" on this, but l just don't think so. Again, l so hope you are right.

0

Yukon! Great to see you here! I'm hoping for Romney, and no, I don't believe he'll get us in another war. Hope Mitt wins. And me and the boys will be up there soon! Too funny...my wife hates hunting, fishing, and cold...so she tells me "Please don't make me go up there...you guys will shoot things." I LOVE my wife! Cheers my friend!!

0

Yukonjohn 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Tell her Thatcher that it is not that cold....well, at least yet!! It was so pretty and sunny today and around zero all day. It did get up to ten above this afternoon for about ten minutes, but now is back to 2 above. It is glorious in the summer!!

0

skylinefirepest 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Lordy, Yukon, you're killing me!!! I spent a year in sunny Sondestromfjord, Greenland, the Miami of the North, and that was all the cold weather I needed for a lifetime. We set a record high of plus fifty the summer I was there and the coldest I saw ( with chill factor ) was minus a hundred and twenty. And we were only one degree within the Arctic Circle. When we landed at Thule one time there were ropes connecting all the buildings and we asked what they were for...they were for white-outs so nobody would flounder around and die!!

0

justpassingby2 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Everybody knows that obama couldn't/wouldn't work WITH Congress. My guess obama wins, republicans keep the House and all those that voted for obama won't understand why nothing is getting done. They will have proven to be that stupid by voting for obama to begin with.

If romney does win, the democrats will keep the Senate and will continue to put our laughingstock of a party before the good of the country promising to do anything possible to make mitt a one-termer.

Either way, both parties will have to figure out just where they think they are headed and just who they think they represent. And the people will have to continue to look harder and harder for the differences between the two parties. The smart people will continue to move to the middle while the idiots on both sides will continue to make fools of themselves.

0

Yukonjohn 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Skyline, I have heard of the ropes at Thule!! I never got to Greenland, but heard that they mixed the names up between Greenland and Iceland!! It really is not that bad here, not much wind, and we spend probalby 85% of our winter 15 degrees either side of zero. It really is bearable. Hope you are yours are doing well.

TOP-10"Only In America "Observations ~ by a Canadian:

1)Only in America ,could politicians talk about the greed of the richat a$35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.

2) Only in America , could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black.

3) Only in America , could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee,BOTH turn out to betax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

4) Only in America , can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

5) Only in America, would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens.

6) Only in America , could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitutionbe thought of as "extremists."

7) Only in America , could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol,or to use a notary public, but not to vote.

8) Only in America , could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the publicbecause the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil)is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

9) Only in America , could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for totalspending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

10) Only in America , could the rich people -who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

I agree Geoff. November through December will have huge upward swings in job creation and it will get bigger and better afterwards. Businessmen / women will know they have a friendly advocate in the White House. They know that Romney will pick a strong and able cabinet who have a mission and are capable of accomplishing it. They know That Romney will work with both parties right out of the box to get America moving in a positive direction. Current Democrats and Republicans actually look forward to a Romney win. They are sick and tired of the congress being used as a prop (Do Nothing Congress). There are plenty of good Americans in congress on both sides who cannot wait to work with Mitt. I haven't even considered the possibility of an Obama win. I see a voting tsunami that will roll across this country for Mitt Romney. They will be voters of every color and ethnicity who want America and prosperity back for themselves and their families. We can survive a President like Obama from time to time, what we cannot survive is an electorate who will put such a President back into office after failing America's people and selling them out to personal ideology. He had a great chance of doing great things for all of America, he decided not to do that. It's time for him to leave and America will have no regrets replacing him. All of America will have a friend with a Romney / Ryan White House...Mike

When I read a letter like Ms. Smith's I figure it is okay if America fails. With people as dumb and gullible as the author we deserve to be passed by countries with better educated people! We don't live in a monarchy, presidents have limited powers. Spread the blame to the filibuster loving folks. Governing is a team sport.

0

It amazes me the amount of devotion people give to these complete strangers. "Oh I saw him on TV and read his book, he should be President!!" Nither you, I or your neighbor know who these SOB's are, but we eagerly elect them to represent us. And then we do nothing to hold their feet to the fire. Are we just that lazy, preoccupied with work, tied up watching Dancing With the Stars, or just don't care? There was once a time Americans would take to the streets to make sure our rights were upheld and we were offered Constitutionally principled representitives. We now vote according to skin color, age, hair-do, smile, blink count, shine on the shoes, or how cute their wife and family are. All while we complain that we need better leadership. SMH. America, you want change? You have to change the way you think.

Aberdeeeniac TODA when was that bridge to no where built and do you have any pictures?

How about several pages ~ you're welcome

0

Toda 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Here's more aberdeeniac:

Dubbed the "Bridge to Nowhere," the bridge in Alaska would connect the town of Ketchikan (population 8,900) with its airport on the Island of Gravina (population 50) at a cost to federal taxpayers of $320 million, by way of three separate earmarks in the recent highway bill. At present, a ferry service runs to the island, but some in the town complain about its wait (15 to 30 minutes) and fee ($6 per car). The Gravina Island bridge project is an embarrassment to the people of Alaska and the U.S. Congress. Fiscally responsible Members of Congress should be eager to zero out its funding."

Thank you Republican's!

An interesting read about fiscal irresponsibility; but don't blame Obama!

0

Yukonjohn 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Yes, it is an embarrassment to us. Also the bridge over the Mat-Su river that would connect McKenzie Point to Anchorage, but it is kind of needed. Anchorage doesn't have much room for expansion, and there is plenty of land on the point, much of it bought up by Don Young's wife when she was alive. All of a sudden that land was priceless, if they built the bridge to THAT nowhere. We have LOTS of nowhere here though....plenty of places to build a bridge to nowhere!!! LOL

You all have segued this topic into nonsense. Someone asked what we have lost under obama, well our freedom to comnduct business without excessive regulations, excessive taxes, industry jobs, our senior citizen medicare which has been so badly raided [to the tune of 750 billion] that they now refuse some senior needs. Obama has dome a massive amount of damage to this nation , and I truly doube that Romney stands a chance of straightrning this travesty out in four years. What we gained is an unyieldy massive federal government and huge entitlement expenses we can not overcome. Obama has trashed the country

0

Toda 6 months, 3 weeks ago

True Aberdeeniac ~ the funds for the project were allocated; albeit, if you read about the many aspects of the funding through congress as well as feedback from Alaska residents, you will understand that the project was on political shaky ground. Images of the project were selling points. No where did I say the bridge was built ... I did provide links for those who take time to read. Just for your information Bro :

Despite the willingness of many in Alaska to give back the bridge to pay for disaster relief, Alaska's congressional delegation has dug in its heels, and many of the delegation's colleagues, including all of congressional leadership, support its resistance. If Alaska loses some of its pork, they fear, so might they.
