The Pinecrest volleyball team was defeated 25-22, 27-25 and 25-15 by Hoggard in a 4A fourth round volleyball match at home Saturday afternoon.

After losing the first set, the Patriots were just a point away from evening the match when the Vikings rallied to score four of the final five points. In the third set, the

strong blocking squad from Wilmington broke away from an 8-8 tie to take a 16-9 lead and was not seriously challenged again.

Janea Williams led the Patriots with nine kills. Megan Thomas had 12 assists and Keegan Lynch finished with 14 digs. Coach Barbara Foxx’s squad finishes the season with

a record of 25-4. Hoggard takes an 19-6 mark into one of the regional final matches early next week.
