Taking poetic liberty with that famous Bob Beckel line made during the 1984 Presidential campaign, I ask Kathleen Oleson, in reference to her letter “A Disturbing Sign of the Times?” (Oct. 21), where is the proof?
She laments the fact that no Obama/Biden signs are present on Midland/Morganton roads, and then notes her investigation revealed placards have been placed but removed within hours.
Unfortunately, she neither cites her method of investigation, nor her source for this allegation. Rather, she makes a statement void of any proof and then ends her letter with a defamatory question pointed directly at those individuals who oppose her candidate.
I ask her, are you so fearful your candidate will lose that you are now relegated to making unsubstantiated allegations as a means to rationalize his local lack of support?
Additionally, by alleging a criminal act has taken place with the removal of the political signs from such prominent public rights of way, is she also accusing the Southern Pines/Pinehurst police departments of not adequately performing their duties by enforcing this law?
In closing I pose this thought. Maybe if President Obama had done a better job of governance during the past four years, the lack of his placards on Midland/ Morganton roads would be a moot point.

Either the signs walked away or someone took them. Some folks around here live in a fantasy world but walking signs? A little farfetched. So, one might reasonably think someone took them. Now, if as the lady says, they were Obama/Biden signs that dissappeared would the person motivated to take the signs more likely be: 1) A Republican thinking this would support the Romney/Ryan ticket and/or have some negative effect on the Obama/Biden ticket, or 2) A Democrat playing some type of reverse psychology mind game? Why would one suspect that most folks would not vote for the walking signs or a Democrat reverse psychology play? Mr. Henderson however would apparently go for the walking sign theory in the absence of proof to the contrary.

Someone who makes up their mind based on a sign doesn't deserve to vote. Theirs is a sign that Jeff Foxworthy made famous.

Great point Mr. Henderson. How you screw up to the point of actually making bush seem like he wasn't totally awful is beyond me but now we know what was so special about obama!
