The Pinecrest girls repeated as Central Regional golf champions on Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 6.

Led by medalist Gabby Weiss with a round of 73, the Patriots finished six strokes in front of second-place New Bern. The junior’s 1-over-par score included eagles on the par 5 ninth and par 5 15th holes.

The Patriot team score of 253 (based on each team’s three lowest rounds) included an 83 by junior Savannah Thompson and a 97 by sophomore Catherine Cirigliano. Also for the Patriots, senior Haley Robinson posted a 98 and junior Chrissy Boals finished with a 99.

New Bern, 259, Page, 269 and Ashley, 282, were the other teams that will join eight more from the other two regionals for the NCHSAA 4A state championships, also to be held on No. 6, next Monday and Tuesday.

Robinson gives the Patriots a fourth player next week after qualifying for the state event with one of the best 14 scores by a player whose score was not included in a team result.
