The Union Pines girls' golf team placed second at the East 3-A NCHSAA Regional Championship Monday at Birchwood County Club in Nashville.

Vike freshman Abby Parsons led the Union Pines' effort with a round of 87. Junior Lindsay Dakin carded 101 and Kayla Jackson shot 102 as the Vikings finished in the runner-up spot behind event champion South Brunswick.

Union Pines hits the links at Longleaf Golf and Country Club in Southern Pines on Oct. 29-30 for the state individual and team 3-A championships.
