Many thanks to all those people and businesses who supported the third annual fundraising golf tournament for Military Missions in Action (MMIA), held at Longleaf Golf and Country Club, Saturday, Sept. 29.
Through the generosity of those who sponsored, donated to, volunteered and played in our tournament, MMIA will be able to continue assisting veterans with disabilities by accomplishing needed modifications to their homes.
Our gratitude also goes to the folks at Longleaf who, for the third time, graciously and efficiently hosted this event.
Although MMIA was founded only five years ago by Mike Dorman, a retired Coast Guardsman, our organization has been able to assist many veterans — from any era, not just post 9/11 — by accomplishing projects as simple as wheelchair ramps and as complex as major home renovations, all to make life more comfortable for these true American heroes and heroines.
MMIA utilizes many volunteers to accomplish these projects, thereby enabling more than 90 percent of donations to be applied directly to our projects.
