Several Face Drug Charges After Arrests

A West End man is facing drug charges after investigators from the Moore County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at his home and found an indoor marijuana-growing operation in the attic, Sheriff Lane Carter reported.

Officers on Monday arrested Christopher Brian Driggers, 40, of 103 Brandywine Drive in Seven Lakes, and charged him with with felony manufacturing marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell, deliver, or manufacture marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony trafficking in opiates by possession, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule III controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule IV controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Driggers received a written promise to appear in court and was released.

Officers executed a search warrant at a residence at 103 Brandywine Drive on Oct. 11. Officers located an indoor grow operation in the attic with approximately 11 marijuana plants, lights, power source, fertilizer timers and other items used to manufacture marijuana. The plants were one to three feet tall and weighed approximately 440 grams.

During the search, officers also found 11 doses of hydrocodone, 27 doses of Xanax, 25 doses of Valium prescription pills, and $230 cash.

The estimated street value of all drugs seized is $4,775.

Several other residents were also arrested within the last week on drug charges.

An undercover drug operation resulted in the arrest of a Jackson Springs man on charges he was distributing controlled prescription pills.

Caleb William Purvis, 27, of 910 Sycamore Lane, was arrested on Wednesday and faces several drug charges. He turned himself in, received a $25,000 unsecured bond and was released.

Separately, two Eagle Springs residents and a Cameron man also are facing felony drug charges.

On Tuesday, officers from the Moore County Sheriff's Office Narcotics and Selective Enforcement units arrested Dennis Everette Ross, 51, of 206 Person Road, and Sandra Harris Ross, 46, of 176 Community Road.

Each is charged with two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, two counts of felony possession of cocaine, two counts of felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both received a $50,000 secured bond and were placed in the Moore County jail.

The arrests stemmed from an execution of two search warrants at homes in Eagle Springs. The searches took place at 176 Community Road and 206 Person Road. Officers located and seized approximately 36 doses of crack cocaine, $6,728.06, and items of drug paraphernalia, including digital scales.

The estimated street value of the crack cocaine seized is $720.

Officers also arrested Harvey Franklin Hardy, 38, of 360 Bass Road, Cameron, and charged him with felony trafficking in opiates, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a place to keep controlled substance, felony possession of firearm by felony, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hardy received a $5,000 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County jail.

His arrest resulted from the execution of a search warrant at a home located at 360 Bass Road. Officers located and seized approximately 87 grams of high grade marijuana, 32 doses of methadone prescription pills, three firearms and $177. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $2,500.

Lastly, two Southern Pines men are facing drug charges after police conducted a traffic stop on Haily Street in Southern Pines and seized more than 150 grams of marijuana.

On Oct. 11, officers arrested Tequan Kemble Chalmers, 26, of 1095 W. Michigan Ave., and Kashif Dean Horton, 24, of South Carlisle Street.

Chalmers is charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and felony possession of marijuana. He received a $25,000 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County jail.

Horton is charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor careless and reckless driving.

Horton received a written promise to appear in court and was released.

Officers also seized approximately $200. The estimated street value of the seized marijuana is $760.
