GOP Actions Have Been Un-American

The Republicans have been obsessed with removing Barack Obama from office from the moment he was elected, instead of being obsessed with fixing the mess Bush left Obama to deal with.

The entire Republican Party has been in a conspiracy to make him fail. They blatantly stated that their goal was to get him out of office, no matter what. What is that? It’s unheard of. It’s un-American. It reeks of one thing only, racism.

This party of fanatics has continually obstructed Obama, instead of working for the American people to fix Bush’s mess. This is dereliction of duty. The average American would get fired if they refused to what they were hired to do. These Republicans have no shame. They think they can “sweep under the rug” what Bush did.

Have we seen much remorse for Bush’s immoral invasion and occupation of Iraq, causing thousands of deaths, horrific disabling injuries to our brave service men and women and Iraqi civilians, and costing the U.S. $10 billion a month, that could have been well spent at home and lessened our deficit?

The Republicans claim we’re not better off now than we were four years ago when Bush left office. Let’s see: bin Laden dead, Iraq war over, auto industry saved and going strong, affordable health care for all, Dow Jones at 13,600, unemployment at 7.8 percent, Equal Pay for Equal Work, etc. Republicans would be gloating if they accomplished this.

Romney has insulted 47 percent of Americans. He talks out of both sides of his mouth, lies when necessary.

Their billionaire-funded TV ads, phone calls and mailings are full of lies and insults.

Saying doesn’t make it so. It doesn’t get any more un-American than their continued and blatant attempt at voter suppression countrywide.

Frank, give us a break dude....you KNOW that obama had a little over two full years that he could do any damn thing he wanted to do and nobody could stop him!! Be honest...if he hadn't been so dead set on passing ( with NO Republican input, by the way ) a health program that most of the country did not want, or need, he could have done good for the country. Instead he turned out to be arrogant, self centered, ( ref: he thought he won the debate ) an apologist for the country, and wanted to fundamentally change this, the greatest country on the face of the earth, into a third world entity...which to the tune of NO JOBS and SIX TRILLION in new spending he has done. It is critical that we get this incompetent liar out of the White House. BTW, Romney has not insulted the forty seven percent...he simply told the truth. And if obama had been in any way competent there would be jobs for the people and there wouldn't BE 47% of the people in this shape. And bear in mind that there is a goodly percentage that are fully capable of working and choose not to do so! Even if the Dems had worked to create jobs!! In terms of Iraq certainly you are aware that over a metric ton of yellowcake was found??

Sometimes the truth slaps you in the face, but it seems flagrant with impunity when no one sees the achievements of the Obama Administration. Two years is not long enough under a democratic congress to clean up 8 years of Bushes mess.

One has to wonder why those on these boards fail to realize it takes at least 7 years to overcome bankruptcy ... the Hedgefund Profiteers like Romney and his son Tagg are on the same course as the Bush administration. If the 47% is not benefiting from the trickle down effect now, if Romney is elected, the he will invoke the trickle up effect lining the pockets of his wealthy corporate friends who have profited from sending jobs to China.

One company in particular is IYOGI, an India based technology company framed under the Bain model for capturing every american job from software, hardware (computer companies), mortgages, while the list goes on and on. You can thank Romney and Bain Capital.

And Dusty, you have shown the problem that the Republicans really have with President Obama.

Steve, what possible reason could the paper have for thinking this might generate civil debate? There has been hand-wringing regarding this site to the point that The Pilot has a "Terms of Use" policy and will scrub or remove comments that it deems inappropriate. That's why we need 4 more years...4 more years...4 more years!

0

jat 7 months ago

The GOP doesn't want to leave Iraq so you really can't blame that one on Obama. In fact, I'm willing to bet that if Romney wins we will be in Syria or Libya in the next four years. Obama provided a jobs package that was voted out by the Republicans, so we will never know if that worked. More importantly, if you want jobs; then the facts are obvious. The Republicans have held the white house for 28 years in the last 52 and produce 24 million jobs; the Democrats have over scene the creation of 42 million jobs.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/sep/06/bill-clinton/bill-clinton-says-democratic-presidents-top-republ/

As the Romney camp likes to elude to: Let the facts not stand in our way.

Finally if you truly believe Obama's at fault, by all means vote against him. But also do everything you can to vote out the Republicans in the state Senate and House. They have held absolute control based on the number of vetoes and North Carolina is proudly in the top ten for unemployment in the nation.

I think Bill Maher suggested that all Republicans can’t be said to be racists, but if you are a racist, you are probably a Republican. I would not suggest that this statement is correct; there is however a study to be done:

Noluv4thugs: “Pinehurst is right next to Taylortown. Maybe you don’t realize it but there are more than a few unsavory people from around there. Republican or Democrat?

Behan: “…, but there are at least two dozen piles of human trash within a five mile radius of your house that would shoot you in the face for three dollars if provided the opportunity.” Republican or Democrat?

Skylinefirepest: “Extremely well said Behan.” Republican or Democrat?

Fugitiveguy: “Behan, good article.” Republican or Democrat?

Geoffcutler: “Smooth, Behan. Like a sharp knife through soft butter.” Republican or Democrat?

I would also suggest that Sky does a comparative study of the media coverage of Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan.

Actual Unemployment (Current U-6 number) in America as of Sept 2012, (October U-3 and U-6 numbers are both misnomers as California did not report their claims for the current numbers (IE 7.8% national is a totally false number actual U-3 is about 8.2 an uptick of .01%)) is 14.7% This number includes current people on unemployment though it does not include those who have been moved to SS Disability, and those who are no longer looking. This means that roughly 15% of the American work force is still unemployed.

Dont give me this BS about 7.8%. Anyone who can tell me with a straight face that we are at 7.8% is suffering from serious delusional episodes and needs serious medical attention.

It should also be noted that a large increase in government jobs over the last 3 years as buffeted the unemployment numbers.

It should also be noted that a large increase in the labor hires for Sep 01 to Oct 01 were part time jobs, however by using a different system they are counted as jobs with no distinction between part time and full time.

We are currently coming up on the holiday season, usually there is a drop in unemployment numbers during this time due to seasonal part time jobs, however due to a large drought in the midwest many seasonal agri-jobs will not be available for the winter season which will offset any part time Christmas gains.

While not illegal, the current 7.8% number is a manipulation due to the sudden switch in systems. The plain truth is that the economy has slowed from 2009 to 2010, it slowed further from 2010 to 2011, and further still from 2011 to 2012.

The only thing one could point to as a sliver lining is the DJI which is posting now steadily above 13,000. However this is not solely influenced by US markets, while all 30 stocks are US based, foreign markets and foreign banks have alot of influence on the swings of the Index.

The only way to create the numbers of jobs needed, not just to offset new entries into the job market and make up for losses, is to lower taxes on corporations and make the cuts permanent so that buisnesses plan accordingly. While some may call CEOs greedy, they will make more money expanding their businesses then they will sitting on piles of cash.

The choice is clear.

16T debt, Obama pledged it would be 6T at this time, this is all you really need to know. This is also the reason the "party before all else" liberals want to talk about GWB. If this isn't proof positive they either don't care about the country or that they are completely and hopelessly clueless about the dire situation we face in the near future. Of course then there is fast and furious, solyndra and other green shenanigans, the Libyan cover ups vs profound incompetence. All that matters to Obama and his followers is that he remain in power. Obama has the undisputed distinction of being the US president with the thinnest resume of all times. No one else comes even close. It never mattered that he wasn't qualified. They knew he could win and that is all that mattered then, its all that matters now. The future of our country and all our future generations be damned.

Beliefs Of A Good Democrat

  • You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand
  • You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
  • You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and Korean communists.
  • You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.
  • You have to believe that global temperatures are more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's than cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate.
  • You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.
  • You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
  • You have to believe that the same teacherwho can't teach fourth graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.
  • You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature but loony activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.
  • You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
  • You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
  • You have to believe that taxes are too low,but ATM fees are too high.
  • You have to believe that standardized tests are racist but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
  • You have to believe that he only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it has ever been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.
  • You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.
  • You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right wing conspiracy.
  • You have to believe that it's okay to give Federal workers Christmas Day off but it's offensive to say 'Merry Christmas'.

Those who gauge unemployment with U6 should have done it during the Bush administration. Or is U3 correct for Republicans and U6 for Democrats. Really? That's how you compare performance?

Has job growth been good? No. But unless Republicans in Congress decide to help (fat chance!) recovery will continue to be slow. Maybe during Obama's second term when defeating him will no longer be more important than the survival of the United States.

Sometimes I crack myself up. That's just not going to happen. Luckily, the Republican Party has charted a course to oblivion and will soon join the Whigs in the pantheon of failed parties. None too soon.

Bush is history, we're only concerned with the here, now & future. Has job growth been good? No. But unless Democrats in Congress decide to help (fat chance!) recovery will continue to be slow.

Toda 7 months ago

Bush is history ~ and that is the mantra of the Republican Party. When in fact, as I attempted to communicate to Skyline, the debt Bush hid from the American people is staggering and won't go away anytime soon ... Read on those of few search engine abilities:

How the Wars Are Sinking the Economy Oct 26, 2010 9:40 PM EDT Nobel Prize recipient Joseph Stiglitz and Harvard budget guru Linda J. Bilmes are revising their original $3 trillion war cost estimate. As Bilmes reports, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are at least 25 percent costlier than previous projections.

How can anyone argue with those scholars reporting on the FACTS of Bushes creative accounting?

Read on Conservatives and blame this Chit on Obama:

But behind those issues—behind the ads and candidates' speeches, behind the rhetoric about "out-of-control" government spending—there lurks a hidden, less-talked-about issue: the cost of the ongoing wars.

Already, we've spent more than $1 trillion in Iraq, not counting the $700 billion consumed each year by the Pentagon budget. And spending in Iraq and Afghanistan now comes to more than $3 billion weekly, making the wars a major reason for record-level budget deficits.

Two years ago, Joseph Stiglitz and I published The Three Trillion Dollar War in which we estimated that the budgetary and economic costs of the war would reach $3 trillion.

*Taking new numbers into account, however, we now believe that our initial estimate was far too conservative—the cost of the wars will reach between $4 trillion and $6 trillion.

0

Toda 7 months ago

And if that information isn't enough for the Rightest Republicans who chose not to understand issues, well here's more for you tweeps:

The Bush administration not only vastly underestimated the cost of the wars but cut taxes twice—in 2001 and 2003—just as we were ramping up the war effort. This was the first time in U.S. history that a government cut taxes while also appropriating huge new sums to fight a war. And the consequence is that the wars added substantially to the federal debt.

Between 2003 and 2008—before the financial crisis unfolded—the debt rose from $6.4 trillion to $10 trillion, and, at least one-quarter of this increase was directly attributable to the wars, first in Iraq and then in Afghanistan.

We have already spent more than $1 trillion in Iraq… and weekly—yes, weekly—spending in Iraq and Afghanistan now comes to more than $3 billion.

For example, in March 2003—the month of the Iraq invasion—oil prices hovered just under $25 per barrel. Immediately afterward, however, prices started to soar, reaching $140 a barrel five years later. Add to that: for Americans, the war-spending left us with much less wiggle room domestically to deal with the financial crisis.

You might understand our position that Republicans (particularly the Southern variety) follow racist patterns if you look at the textbooks being supplied to Lousiana's Republican-supported charter schools. They contain such gems as the 'fact' that the KKK was a social organization that helped local government deal with problems of wife-beaters and drunks.

That'll win you some African-American votes.

The fact is that Republicans have been trying to exploit and enlarge America's racial divide since Nixon's 'southern strategy' in the wake of the civil rights movement. It worked so well to drive African-Americans from their candidates that they've repeated the exercise with Latinos with the same result. Nice going.

-An adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or examination of the facts. (i.e., seeing a watermelon on the side of the road with a noose in San Francisco and deciding the Presidential Race is all about race because of that)

-A preconceived preference or idea (i.e., if a Republican doesn't like a Democratic President or wants a Republican President again, and that president is black, the Republican must be racist).

-The act or state of holding unreasonable preconceived judgments or convictions. See Synonyms at predilection (i.e., determining that all Southern Republicans are racist because you heard there was a crazy KKK quote in a Louisiana textbook at schools backed by Republicans)

-Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion.

-Detriment or injury caused to a person by the preconceived, unfavorable conviction of another or others.

What has your comment to do with threads claiming under the Obama Administration, 6 trillion in debt has accrued under his watch? When the facts show Bush lied to the American people about the cost of those wars, and even hid those costs. Its not a matter of who voted for what ~ but more over who is being credited for the escalation of national debt! Obama open policy has defined where those expenses have come from and not by his administration!

Makes you proud to be a liberal!!!!

“Clueless” star Stacey Dash recently tweeted her support for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, accompanied by a patriotic swimsuit picture of herself.

But now her political viewpoint has become the subject of online attacks, with many expressing crude distaste that she isn’t endorsing President Obama – and race has become a key motivator behind the digital abuse.

“You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot,” one Twitter user wrote, while @Black Voice wrote, “Stacey Dash had a perm since birth. I knew I couldn’t trust her.. lol.”

Others accused the actress of “voting for white supremacy,” claiming she “is white with a dark tan,” and calling Dash a slew of offensive names.

Several other Obama supporters even went as far as to encourage “the old hag” to “kill herself.” One suicide encourager is listed as a doctor and politically active Democrat in Washington D.C., and although he reportedly has deleted the inflammatory “kill yourself” tweet, it was captured by social media news site, Twitchy.com.

But Dash seems to be taking the backlash in stride.

“My humble opinion… EVERYONE is entitled to one,” she tweeted in response.

But the 46-year-old's plug for Romney attracted plenty of applause, too.

“Thank you for being willing to think for yourself despite what your haters have to say,” tweeted one user, while another noted, “You can NEVER, EVER (did I say never?) NEVER leave the Dem party if you r Black. Once you do, the name calling begins.”

Dash did not respond to a request for further comment.

I was stunned when the moderator sided with the president on the topic of his remarks about the Libya murders. Not stunned that she was pro Obama but that she would have so little self control as to violate the simplest rule of moderating a debate. I am sure the pilot libs will respond with glee and approval. The most important point gets lost. Why was the embassy not given the requested security and second why did the administration continue to put out info on the motive that those with even a casual following of the events knew was false.

0

geoffcutler 7 months ago

What kind of audience is it that applauds when a president lies at a town hall debate?

I'll tell you. One that believes a CNN reporter/moderator when she backs the lie up and shuts the contender down on National television. That crowd last night doesn't know the president isn't telling the truth about not calling the deaths of Americans in Libya an act of terrorism because most all media outlets aren't covering the story. The NYT isn't. That applause last night suggests they don't even know there are hearings going on to uncover the truth about what happened, and why for days after the incident this administration including Obama, Clinton, Susan Rice, and David Axelrod were all calling the act the result of a movie trailer. The lefties on this website agreed with them, because it's what they wanted to believe. This is what happens when the fourth estate doesn't do its job because its politically in the tank for one candidate.

Letters like this one gain the same type of traction in the public's eye because the media does nothing to dispel the myth that all Republicans must be racist. When the president says he declared the Libyan murders an act of terrorism the day after the incident...it's believed because they haven't been told that it is not the truth. Sad to watch.

0

JimHeim 7 months ago

geoff, Nope. Bush was personally warned about the danger bin Laden posed by Bill Clinton before he was even inaugurated. Month after month the CIA delivered briefings to Bush with warnings of attacks planned for inside the United States. Month after month Bush's own counter-terrorism group tried to get his attention. Bush personally decided to ignore those warnings.

So far there is zero evidence that the White House was informed of the request for personnel or any intelligence suggesting an attack was coming.

So far we don't know if the requested personnel would have been enough or why the request was rejected. Maybe it was lack of funding after Ryan chopped their security budget by over $400 million. These private security guys are very well paid, you know.

With so few details available, it takes real gall to jump to so many absurd conclusions.

0

fugitiveguy 7 months ago

I suppose we should not be suprised at anything that comes from a party who proudly put forth a nominee in 2007 with the absolute weakest resume for president in the history of the nation. We should not be suprised after 4 years of the way things have turned out. We should not be suprised at a media that fails to do their most basic duty. Lastly we should not be suprised at the local lib lemmings that continue to want to talk about the past while our most pressing problems are in the present. Problems that aren't on this charlatans radar. If it only affected the libs I would be happy to sit back and watch the show. Unfortunately our future and our future generation futures hang in the balance. Not one local lefty that raises any concerns over the way this president has done his job, how can that be?

In the first debate I felt like it was not as one sided as most outlets have reported, I think I amm on record as saying such but I could be mistaken. This debate I feel while being much better for Obama was IMO was too close to call, certainly not a win for Romney. First debate I can remember where the moderator was serving as simultaneous fact checker. The left has no problem with that? I am schocked. Of course on the fact she supposedly checked, Obama was full of crap but who cares, right? It got some applause.

Gee didnt Obama when he was using his southern black accent say let someone else worry about the debt??

yep sho did, sho nuf, dat is true yes it is, why lordy lordy

DR you are so sad to listen to, so biased, so angry..maybe you could get a job with the state department promoting Gay Pride parades in Pakistan (this is really happening)..

Obama and his ilk remind me of the part in Lord of the Rings in Book 3 when the hobbits come back to The Shire and find it all screwed up...F U B A R

Like finding out the USDA has its employees chanting ALL OUR FOREFATHERS WERE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!! et al ad nauseam..Chic Fil A's getting booted by intolerant homosexual storm troopers

Heim you may remember that Clinton's staff in charge of policy, made it illegal for the CIA to share intel with the FBI. The CIA knew about Otta and the fly boys but could not tell the FBI!! This is how 9/11 happened. We were attacked several times under Slick Willie and he did nothing. So they kept coming! Oblaima is trying the same policy. We were attacked again. Be nice to these killers and you will die feeling shafted! By the way W Bush called it terror right off the bat on 9/11, unlike "I'll side with my Muslim Brothers" did. Why was that, Heim?? Al Quida on the run?? Yes they RAN right to our place and started a small war!!

"Failed Bush Policies caused this recession"..... It was FANNIE and FREDDIE that caused all of this! We were growing after 9/11 because of the tax cuts and when Barnie and Dodd threatened "RACISM" to McCain, they cut Fannie and Freddie loose to book more bad loans and sell them as good ones. "I KILLED bin ladin"..... He trashed everything that W did to get the intel to get bin ladin, including trying to convict the CIA guys of torture, and then gives the Seals "permission" to KILL him. THEN braggs about it and brings in Hollywierd and blows any chance of catching the bad guys on bin ladins harddrive!! And then takes credit!!!!???? "I ended the Iraq War"....He voted against every stage of this war and trashed every aspect of it, and the war was over when he took office. Then he YANKS our guys out too early and Al Quida is moving back in. He does get credit for Oblaimascare!!
