Woman Faces Felony Speeding to Elude Arrest, Other Charges

A Southern Pines woman is facing multiple charges, including felony speeding to ellude arrest, after police say she was speeding on May Street in a school zone.

Lucas is also charged with resist, delay or obstruct and officer, careless and reckless driving, speeding in a school zone, and six counts of failure to stop at a stop sign.

The arrest stems from a traffic violation investigation near 255 S. May Street. Lucas who was speeding in a school zone failed to stop for officers and was arrested after a short pursuit.

Lucas appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was released under $5,000 unsecured bond pending a hearing on November 1, 2012 in Moore County District Court.
