Southern Pines Police arrested an Aberdeen man Friday in connection with suspicious activity at the downtown park.

Police say Reggie Demond Revels, 29, was found and questioned at the park, 135 SE Broad St., by police. A license check determined he is a registered sex offender with the state of North Carolina and prohibited from being near a playground.

Revels is charged with violating a court order prohibiting him from being near a playground area with children. He was taken to the Moore County Jail, where he is being held on a $5,000 bond pending a court hearing Oct. 18.
