Pats, Vikes, 'Stangs Lose

All three local high school teams suffered conference losses tonight.

Pinecrest fell to visiting Scotland High 34-11. Union Pines loss to visiting Westover 27-0. And North Moore, the only team on the road, lost 45-0 to East Montgomery.

The Patriots are now 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the Southeastern Conference. Scotland moved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Scotland jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead. Pinecrest made a brief comeback, cutting the margin to 27-11 early in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer.

Union Pines kept it close in the early going, but fell behind 14-0 by halftime. Westover added two more scores in the second half against a Viking team that was plagued by six turnovers and nine sacks. The Vikings fell to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in the Cape Fear Valley Confergence.

North Moore remains winless on the season. The Mustangs trailed 26-0 at halftime, and 38-0 at the end of the third quarter.

The Mustangs are now 0-8 on the season, and 0-3 in the Yadkin Valley Conference.
