The journalists (and I use the term loosely) who carry Obama’s water should read the book “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich,” which chronicles that the first freedom to go is speech, replaced by government sanctioned propaganda and indoctrination.

If Ms. Watterworth read the book she gets an "A" for effort but an "F" for reading comprehension. It's amazing how often right wing pseudo-intellectuals use some characteristic or other of the Third Reich when they want to villify the current administration, Congress or whatever their complaint of the day might be. WW I ended on 11/11/1918. The Treaty of Versailles and other treaties required Germany to pay enormous reparations to the Allies. WW I cost Germany approximately 15% of it's working age men. There was runaway inflation in Germany post WW I, 30% unemployment and substantial political instability. When the great Depression hit it's effects were felt worldwide by 1930 and Germany was one of the countries hard hit. This laid the groundwork for Hitlers election in 1933. Heavy military spending and a mixed economy (both free market and central planning practices) brought Germany out of it's depression but the Third Reich continued and expanded based on it's economic success plus fear (fear of backsliding into depression, fear of the Communists, eons old European anti-Semitism, etc) nationalism, intimidation, murder and genocide. The USA in 2012 isn't post WW I Germany. To compare the current administration to the Third reich is insulting nonsense, it simply shows that that the person drawing such comparison is, to be polite, less than bright and amazingly ignorant of history.

Then Hitler gave free food, free health care, then took their guns, and well the rest is History, or is it.....? Those who ignore history, are doomed to repeat it, or something like that. A German man living in the US was on the radio during the Slick Willie regime and said that it was scary how much like the Hitler thinking it was. Progressives are all alike, they just wear different uniforms!!

"Middleman522": "A German man... on the radio during the Slick Willie regime..."? That's one heck of a reference but thank you, you prove my point: To compare the contemporary USA to the Third Reich is less than bright and and displays an amazing ignorance of history.

What's wrong with her reading comprehension? I've read the book, and what happened with German media is exactly as she says, despite what you say about its recession. Hitler was welcomed with open arms by the German press only to be thoroughly embarrassed by what they were eventually to discover. What's a recession got to do with inviting a despotic, murdering tyrant into your homeland?

Hey, remember when comparing the President to Hitler was, like, the worst thing anyone could do? Remember all the fuss about the video comparing The President Who Must Not Be Named to Htitler? The one someone made for a contest--you know the one that didn't make the first round cut and was taken off the contest website almost immediately, but the wingnuts are mad about it to this day? Remember that?

Middleman, Germany was (and still is) quite progressive and had universal health care before WWI - going back to Bismark - 50 years before Hitler.

Here we go again with some nut case using the Nazi - Hitler mantra to avoid having to use writing skills to communicate and convey a message. She must be a Michael Savage supporter to make such a ludicrous statement...! Lady by the way, the year is 2012 not 1939....

Jeeeeeez. Ok Obama and Hitler are alike in some ways as far as their basic styles of governance, however, Obama is an anti colonialist, not a genocidal maniac, having said that, there ARE striking similarities from post WW 1 Germany and 2012 America, WHETHER YOU WANT TO ADMIT IT OR NOT!

I was thinking less of Hitler and more like the Rev Jim Jones.

But as usual Dusty there is a double standard when it comes to you.

If the question is, has the media played for Obama a similar tune as that of the German media who helped exalt and empower Hitler? Then the answer is yes. The letter doesn't equate the two leaders.

I'm guessing that none of you are booking your flights to Washington to watch Obama's second inauguration.
Anyone who finds anything remotely resembling Hitler in Obama is certifiably insane. Seriously and literally. Way beyond merely bat guano crazy...
