The Last Choice

Can Karl Killingstad be serious in suggesting that Mr. Romney is “The Only Choice” for our country in the race for the office of president (Sept. 28)?
Such choice would be foolish, and devastating to at least 47 percent of the U.S. population.
Anyone paying attention can see clearly that of the two candidates running for president, Mr. Obama is the mature and responsible adult who has proven he possesses the intelligence to recognize a grave situation, resolve it in a beneficial and concise manner, resulting in the least harm to the greatest number of Americans.
Obama doesn’t claim to be a magician, but I consider that his accomplishments while in the White House have been nothing short of miraculous given the hateful opposition he has faced since his election in 2008.
His record speaks for itself, though many in Washington are content to throw monkey wrenches in the works, while keeping millions out of work, simply to put him out of a job.
Some of Obama’s accomplishments are the passing of the stimulus package, which prevented a depression; the bailout of the auto industry (GM is now thriving); the turnaround of the job market that had reached losses of 800,000 per month under the previous administration; the passing of the Affordable Care Act; the elimination of Osama bin Ladin and a good number of his cohorts.
Mr. Romney and others of his ilk choose to ignore Obama’s stellar achievements (which does not nullify them), in favor of simply playing the “Bash Obama” game. Whatever happened to honesty and fair play?
As to Mr. Killingstad’s final remark that Romney “is actually qualified,” I’ve noticed that he is indeed qualified, and quite adept, at convincing us by his own flip-flopping words, that he’s “The Last Candidate” we should choose!

Obviously you have not been paying attention for the past four years....Mike

That's right Mike. We were supposed to have a Depression and Obama prevented it. We should be all outraged and stuff.

Romney has advocated both sides of every issue so one has to wonder: Will the debate be between the former Governor Romney against the current Republican candidate for president Romney, given the opposite sides of virtually every issue those two have taken, or will both one, the other, or both debate Obama? Going to be interesting since one Romney or the other has always agreed with Obama on virtually every issue, depending on the issue of course.

I watched the debates and I saw a wild-eyed Romney jumping around like he was about to explode. He wouldn't shut his mouth long enough for President Obama, the statesman on the stage, to finish a sentence. I'd hate to see Romney with other world leaders if he wasn't getting his way--guard the red button--please! What a bully and a liar Romney is! He certainly didn't win over my vote, and I'm not in the 47 percent that Romney doesn't care about (among others).

Ncteacher: " He wouldn't shut his mouth long enough for President Obama, the statesman on stage, to finish a sentence"????? Obama as it turns out, spoke almost 5 minutes more in the debate to relate. Ncteacher, it was a DEBATE. Your summary and excuse are along the lines of Al Gore's excuse for Obama. Diane

NC teach....I'm glad you aren't teaching my kids anything at all with your attitude. Obama is a confirmed liar and a disaster for the country....or doesn't six trillion in new spending and no jobs in four years ring a bell with you. They both talked about throwing money at education but our kids simply cannot compete with Asian kids...we have too many "teachers" wasting time suspending kids for bringing toy soldiers to class under an asinine "no tolerance" set of idiotic rules. More money for education is simply wasted until we straighten out our system.

As a lifelong Democrat I am very dissapointed with President Obama's performance over these past 4 years. It is hard to put my finger on what I am most dissapointed in. Perhaps its the 16T debt that he promised would be about 6T at this time. Perhaps its the nearly 10% unemployment rate in NC. Maybe its the fact that he has been in campaign mode ever since getting elected. Maybe its the corruption and incompetence in his justice department. It could be the questionable and troubling response of his administration to the murders in Libya. Then there is solyndra and fast and furious. Of course, every time you turn around Joe Biden is saying something stupid. This year, I am voting for Romney and Ryan, Americas comeback team.

Toda (or any other Obama swooners), what do you make of this? I attempted to be "fair and balanced" but cannot find a any economists for Obama. What conclusions can be drawn from this? 6 Nobel prize winning economists on this list. Hey, didn't Obama win a nobel prize?
teufelhunden 7 months, 2 weeks ago
Calling it the "Affordable" Care Act is laughable. An unaffordable behemoth is more accurate.

The tax on those making over $250,000 per year is just reckless. Doctors are already on pins and needles over Medicare and now this. OUCH!!!

Toda, what is it with all you Liberals hollering about Romney's money??? Wouldn't you be happy with a few mill?? Like your man obama?? He is also a moneybags or don't you like to think about that?? Come on Dude, barry and miche are both millionaires themselves and they apparently got theirs in a somewhat shady fashion! Romney earned his. Isn't that what the American dream is all about? You guys have played the class warfare into the ground and it only takes with the uneducated or ignorant.

You're like a kid that pokes dead things with sticks and thinks it's funny. At least make it look like you aren't trying so hard Fugly. That whole paragraph and the dribble that came after it are just a waste of your limited mental abilities. Try to have a starting statement that doesn't scream how full of bs you are right out in front of the other bs. That way someone might actually read it and fall for it.

I have to admit it doesn't have the weight (or smell) of the above pile of cerebral diarrhea but then again you are an enlightened liberal and alas, I am just a former Democrat turned evil, hatefilled rightwinger. What took you so long to get back with me? Busy day in Carthage?
