The entry form in Sunday’s paper (Nov. 25 edition) was the last for this year, so, that’s right, folks, only one week left to determine the overall winner.

But let’s not worry about that until later. First let’s get to this week’s contest winners.

There were six contestants that finished the week with 12-4 records that were very good compared to a lot of the other contestants. But that still didn’t get the first-place money.

That goes to Annie Norris of Aberdeen, who went a sterling 14-2 to claim that first-place check for $50.

As you already know there were six people that went 12-4, bringing the tiebreaker game into play.

Here are the six that went 12-4: George Erickson of Foxfire; Aidan Lyons of Southern Pines; Jan Saltzman of Whispering Pines; Will Lassiter of Pinehurst; Lori Houghtaling of Pinehurst; and Haynes Brigman of Pinehurst.

The tiebreaker game was St. Louis versus Arizona, a game that the Rams won 31-17, bringing in a total of 48 points as the tiebreaker number.

Well, that eliminates Saltzman and Lassiter, who had 40 points for their tiebreaker number. It also eliminates Brigman, who had 43 as his number, and Lyons, who had 44. So, it comes down to Houghtaling and Erickson.

Let’s cut to the chase: Erickson got the $30 second-place check with 46 as his tiebreaker number and Houghtaling got the $20 check for third place based on her tiebreaker number of 45.
