The Union Pines Vikings swept the North Moore Mustangs in junior varsity basketball action Tuesday at Bob Ward Gymnasium in Cameron.
Sophomore forward Nia Mosley scored 13 points to lead the homestanding Lady Vikes to a 37-12 victory in the girls' cross-county clash.
With the nonconference win the 3-A Union Pines girls' squad improved to 1-1 on the season. Other scoring leaders for the Vikings included sophomores McKayla Kraft and Onika Williams with six apiece and Jamaria McPhatter with five.
North Moore, which was paced by four points from Carla Brown and three points from Erica Vasquez, had its record drop to 0-2 with the loss.
In the boys' tilt Vike swingman Robert Collins scored 15 to lead Union Pines to a 62-42 victory.
Union Pines improved to 2-1 on the season with the rivalry win. Joseph Gisler scored nine and Joseph Bibey had seven for the Vikings, while Kristofer Headen and Ivan Gonzalez each scored six.
Freshman Jordan Maness led the 1-A Mustangs with 13 points, followed by sophomore Josh Wallace's eight. North Moore moved to 0-2 on the young season with the loss.
