Notebook: Teeple's Perfect Shot at Hyland

Hole-in-One: Robert Teeple scored a hole-in-one Nov. 4 at the Hyland Golf Club. Robert used his pitching wedge to cover the 135 yards to the sixth green. His playing partner Randy Rooney witnessed this perfect shot.

Whispering Pines: The Pinettes played Nov. 20, on the East Course, in a mixed pars contest. Flight 1 – Sandy Hallet, 31; Karen Hobbs, tied at 32, with Dot DeMasi. Flight 2 – Debbie McCormick, 30; Barb Fulghum, 32. Flight 3 – Sharon Tate, 28; Sandy Armstrong, 29

The Men’s Golf Association played Nov. 14 and the format was Stableford with points awarded to each player. The winners were George Carfi, Pat O’Malley and Eddie Marshall each scoring 40 points. Overall, 25 turkeys were awarded to the top 25 players.

Knollwood: The Rainmakers played Nov. 19 in a low gross and low net tournament. Flight 1 – Gross – Dee Hancock, 44. Net – Judy Smith, 35. Flight 2 – Gross – Joan Mangrum, tied at 52, with Miyuki Kallagis. Net – Honey Hacket, 31.

The Sandblasters played Nov. 20 in a one best ball of the foursome contest. Paul Leach, Paul Cottam, Dick Maderia, Dick Baird, 25; Harvey Koonce, Bill Parke, Len Grasso, Blind Draw, 26; Ron Flock, John Mannion, Bill Bradley, Paul Aschmetat, 28. Harvey Koonce won low gross with 41 and Len Grasso, Dick Baird and Bill Park tied at 31 for low net. Dick Kelly won closest to the pin.

Longleaf: The Men’s Golf Association played Nov. 21 in a 15-24-33 contest. Full handicaps were allowed and each team counted one best ball on par-5 holes, two on par-4 holes and three on par-3 holes. The winners: Dick Baldwin, Marco Cantele, Paul Hogan, Jim Walker, 16 under par; Bud Bell, Gary Carroll, Bob Leo and Lee Moore, 13 under par.

Whispering Woods: The Men’s Golf Association played a team scramble event Nov. 16 and the winning team was Steve Luckhaus, Ken Pomeroy, Glenn Bernhard and Tom Lyon with 68.

The Men’s Golf Association played Nov. 21 in an individual low net contest. Bud Henty won with a net 67.

Southern Pines: The Par Seekers played Nov. 20 in a low gross, low net and low putts tournament. Gross: Ginger Addis, 97. Net: Nancy Jacobs, 74. Putts: Holly Meystre, 33.

Beacon Ridge: The 18-Hole Ladies played Nov. 20 in a low net turkey shoot game. Ellen Leslie, 65; Janice Sargert, 68; Millie Allen, 68; Marianne Foley, 71; Mary Lois Teyssier, 72; Nancy Cunningham, 73; Sandra McDermott, 73; Joyce Loney, 75; Marilyn Holzerland, 76.

Seven Lakes: The Women’s Golf Association played Nov. 20 and the format was a team event with three net scores on par-5 hole, two on par-4 holes and one on par-3 holes. First: Roni Hann, Kathy Goodman (draw), Edie Starkey, 150; Kathy Goodman, Betty Larson, Peg Woodard, 156; Diane Boston, Marge Blake, Lillian Shafer, 163.

Pinehurst: The Birdies played Nov. 19, on Course No. 4, in an “easy peasy” game. Three best balls were needed on hole No. 9 and one best ball on all other holes. First – Shirley Potter, Joan Sponik, Gail Ford, 71; Second – Bonnie Hanly, Billie Oxrieder, June Eichele, Thersia Noggle, 74.

The Silver Foils played Nov. 20 in a one best ball needed for scoring on odd holes and two best balls needed on even holes. Mary O’Malley, Rhonda Brooks, Jimmie Hepner, Karen Plankar, 90; Louise Burton, Lulu Eichhorn, Lisa Akers, Elsie Jasinski, 95 (MOC); Cindy Motter, Jeanne Casey, Flossie Parks, Sandi Smith, 95 (MOC).
